Do you find your Pilates class isn't helping your back Pain? Does it sometimes make your back pain worse? Well your not alone

Have you ever tried Pilates before and thought "This is too easy for me" or "I don't feel like I'm getting a good enough workout"? Well, I can tell you now that you are not on your own with this thought. I've heard this quite a few times from those cautious of doing Pilates.
However I can also tell you, if you're finding Pilates too easy then it is most likely that you are doing it wrong! We have all seen in the press that many athletes and celebrities do Pilates. Gareth Bale, Andy Murray, Darcy Bussell etc. Does that mean we are really fitter than them if we find Pilates too easy? Before we go into the details of what we could be doing it wrong, let's just remind ourselves of what Pilates is. This time of year I always seem to get an increase in enquires for my Therapy Sessions, finding out more about what we offer and also for booking in.
I'm writing this article based on the questions I get asked most during these enquires and I'll also include some tips of how you can make your sessions more beneficial to you. On Friday 25th November we will probably see lots of retailers offering big discounts to get those pre-christmas bargains, stores opening at midnight and many websites crashing for those looking to get a good deal.
Whilst we can see the appeal of Black Friday, we feel that we could offer something a little bit more beneficial as opposed to some big discounts on a course of Pilates or Massage session. So we have decided on to hold our first "Charity Massage Friday" on Friday 25th November... Dr. Ida Rolf once said "where the pain is the problem is not" and this couldn't be truer for the majority of people I see in my studio.
A lot of time people wrongly assume that being a Sports Massage Therapist, I will be getting "stuck in" to those stiff areas we all get and be expecting a painful massage in their belief that it is what they need and will be good for them. That isn't the case. |
